Patch Worked Colour: Make a mini hand-sown quilt - 10/03/19 10am to 4pm

Be inspired by colour and explore the slow and meditative art of hand quilting with textile artist Deborah Manson.

You will design and create your own small hand-stitched patchwork quilt in this exciting all day workshop.

You’ll use a selection of naturally dyed fabrics hand dyed by Deborah especially for the workshop and your own found or vintage fabrics, and Japanese hand quilting threads to hand quilt your design.

We will start by discussing your fabrics, considering colour relationships and look to the playful geometric designs of the Gees Bend quilters for inspiration.

As the day progresses your hand pieced patchwork will evolve as you explore these wonderful traditional techniques in a modern way. Your mini quilt, which you will take home with you at the end of the day, could be the starting point for something bigger.

The course will take place in the beautiful, creative and tranquil surrounds of the A.S.APOTHECARY shop and will include hot drinks and tasty biscuits/cake.

Most materials will be provided but participants must bring along a good pair of fabric scissors and some found or vintage fabric (this could be an unpicked garment with a personal story, memory cloth, or something you found in a market or charity shop).
